The title compound, C 22 H 24 O 2 , has been obtained by a Grignard reaction of (1S,4R)-methyl 7,7-dimethyl-2-oxobicyclo[2.2.1]heptane-1-carboxylate with phenylmagnesium bromide. Intramolecular hydrogen bonding is observed between the carbonyl group and the hydroxy group.

The title compound, C 10 H 11 Cl 2 NO 2 , consists of a benzene core functionalized by one nitro group, two methyl groups, and two chloromethyl groups. The crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular C-HÁ Á ÁO non-classical hydrogen bonds and weak C-HÁ Á ÁCl interactions.
