4-Aryl and 4-methyl substituted Hantzsch-type 1,4-dihydropyridines having a chirat sulfinyl group as an electron-withdrawing group were successfully synthesized in an optically active form from [~-ketosulfoxides via two routes. The relationship between calcium channel antagonist activity and the str
A series of indolyldihydropyridines has been designed, synthesized, and evaluated in order to show the effect of the indole moiety and the role of the methyl groups at the 2 and 6 positions of the dihydropyridine ring in the calcium channel blocking activity. The results seem to show that these grou
