✦ Synopsis

The complete assignments of the 13C NMR resonances of N-(alkanoyl)-and N-(3-oxoalkanoyl)-S-homoserine lactone are reported. These assignments were made by comparison with values for N-butanoyl-S-homoserine lactone, a model compound whose structure was comprehensively established by a combination of onedimensional proton and carbon spectra and two-dimensional COSY, NOESY, HSQC and HMBC experiments.

C-and N-trimethylsilylazole derivatives were studied by 1H, 13C and 29Si NMR spectroscopy. Degenerated prototropic tautomerism of 4-trimethylsilylpyrazole in methanol and the silylotropy of 1trimethylsilyl-4-methylpyrazole in a neat liquid were investigated for the Ðrst time. 3-and 5-tautomers of 3(

The 13C NMR spectral data for 18 dihydropyrimidinediones and their 2-thio analogues are presented. The influence of substituents on the shielding of neighbouring atoms was analysed and the resonances were unambiguously assigned. 13C NMR spectroscopy was shown to be useful for structural determinatio
