โฆ Synopsis
Measurements have been made on the concentrations of vacancies and interstitial clusters in singlecrystal graphite irradiated with neutrons in a reactor and with carbon ions in an accelerator. The irradiations were carried out over a range of temperatures from 30" to 1100ยฐC and a range of total initial displacements up to 0.1 disp/lattice site. Vacancies were observed using the gold decoration technique, and interstitial clusters were directly observed in the electron microscope. Comparisons will be made with calculated values.

integrated intensities and diffuse X-ray scattering were measured from highly oriented pyrolytic graphite to characterize the thermal displacement parameters. Values of the mean square displacements (uz) of the carbon atoms perpendicular to the basal planes are large, whereas, the displacements are

The mechanical properties of RVD graphite have been examined from room temperature to 5500ยฐF. Uniaxial tensile and compressive tests were performed in both the with-grain and across-grain directions at nine temperature levels, and the compIete stress-strain curves and lateral strain-axial strain cur
