β¦ Synopsis
The mechanical properties of RVD graphite have been examined from room temperature to 5500Β°F. Uniaxial tensile and compressive tests were performed in both the with-grain and across-grain directions at nine temperature levels, and the compIete stress-strain curves and lateral strain-axial strain curves were recorded. The effects of strain rate at high temperature were studied by performing tensile tests at three different constant strain rates and also by suddenly increasing the strain rate during a tensile test. Tensile and compressive creep tests, some of 90 min duration, were performed. Tensile relaxation tests and cyclic tensile tests were run at 45OO'F. The dynamic moduli of elasticity were measured and compared with the values obtained by drawing tangents to the initial portions of the stress-strain curves. Torsion tests were performed at 4500Β°F on specimens with tensile preloads in order to examine the behavior of graphite under multiaxial stress states. * l&car& sponsored by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission under contract with the Union Carbide Caporation. 42. Properties of polycrystalline graphites irradiated at various temperatures (338Β°K and 873Β°K) were tested from 100 to 750Β°K. The dynamic mechanical properties for these specimens indicate multirelaxation behavior. The modulus values increase for all irradiated specimens as compared to unirradiated va
A technique, employing samples in the form of tuning forks, to measure the mechanical properties of polymers is presented. Results for low density polyethylene, polypropylene, and polycarbonates are shown. A large transition is observed for polypropylene at approximately +lOΒ°C and a small transition
## Abstract The dynamic mechanical properties of waterβswollen elastin under physiological conditions have been investigated. A recently developed dynamic mechanical analysis technique was utilized to determine the setting rates of dental amalgams. Via a compound parallel beam apparatus the dynamic mechanical properties of five amalgam materials were continuously measured at 37Β°C within ca. 7 min after the start of tritura
