✦ Synopsis


A technique, employing samples in the form of tuning forks, to measure the mechanical properties of polymers is presented. Results for low density polyethylene, polypropylene, and polycarbonates are shown. A large transition is observed for polypropylene at approximately +lOΒ°C and a small transition at -100Β°C for the polycarbonates. Polycarbonate data has also been obtained from 20 to 150Β°C, at approximately 70 cps. Effects of time, temperature, and history are presented.

## Abstract The temperature dependence of the viscous component __E__~2~(1/__T__) of the dynamic modulus is reported for a homologous series of butadiene–styrene copolymers incorporated at various levels in styrene homopolymer. By the use of a vibrating reed technique based on resonance tuning, the
