The synthesis of optically active 7-substituted-1-phosphadethia-3-cephems is described. The stereochemistry in the displacement reaction at C-4 of chira1 3-acylamino-4acetoxy-2-azetidinones toward trivalent phosphorus nucleophiles is also discussed briefly.

## Abstract Trisubstituted 1,4,5,6,โ€tetrahydroโ€7__H__โ€indolones are obtained in a oneโ€pot synthesis from conjugated nitroolefins and ฮฑโ€ketoenamines derived from ฮฑโ€amino esters and cyclohexaneโ€1,2โ€dione. In some cases bicyclo[3.2.1]octanโ€8โ€one and 1,2โ€oxazine __N__โ€oxide derivatives are isolated.
