✦ Synopsis
pSR results on the magnetic field distribution in the high temperature superconductors La-Sr-Cu-O and Y-Ba-Cu-O in the mixed state will be analyzed with respect to attempts to determine the magnetic penetration depth ,~ from these data. It is concluded that the granular structure of the ceramic material is mainly responsible for the observed field distribution except in those cases, where crystallites seem to be preferentially oriented inside the samples. This allows to obtain lower limits on )~11' i.e. )~(0)11 _> 6000/~ for YBa2Cu30r and ~(0)11 > 6500 ./t for Lal.ssSr0.15CuO4, while ~.L could not be extracted.
