โฆ Synopsis
A comparative study of the dissipation process in the mixed state of conventional and high temperature superconductors IS carried out using thin film samples of YBa&u,O,~,,, BiZSrzCaCuz08+, and amorphous MoGe alloy. Amorphous MoCe shows a nearly ideal flux flow behavior, in which the difference in the resistivity between HI J and HliJ amounts to many orders of magnitude, as expected from the Lorentz force effect. Dissipation in Bi,Sr,CaCu,O,+, is very anomalous in that it is completely Independent of the macroscopic Lorentz force. The behavior of YBa/.Zu@_, is intermediate, i.e. a Lorentz-force-effect component, which obeys a sin'@ dependence, coexists with the angular-independent dissipation. The origin of the anomalous angularindependent dissipation in the high temperature superconductors is disscused in the light of flux dynamics in highly anisotropic layered superconductors.
