✦ Synopsis

The title compound, [Mo 2 (P 2 )(CO) 4 (C 8 H 9 O 2 ) 2 ], which was synthesized by refluxing a toluene solution of [( 5 -CH 3 CH 2 O 2 CC 5 H 4 ) 2 Mo 2 (CO) 6 ] and P 4 under N 2 , has a tetrahedral [Mo 2 P 2 ] core with a transverse coordinated P 2 ligand and an [( 5 -CH 3 CH 2 O 2 CC 5 H 4 )Mo(CO) 2 ] moiety. The P-P distance of the coordinated P 2 ligand is 2.089 (2) A ˚.
