✦ Synopsis
“Empty” cyclodextrins contain water in their annular cavities; the hydrate form of β‐cyclodextrin (cycloheptaamylose, β‐CD) has now been subjected to an X‐ray study. β‐CD·12H~2~O assumes an almost “round” shape. No far‐reaching changes of conformation take place on complex formation with guest molecules.
