✦ Synopsis

We consider the bifurcation problem of a general class of variational inequalities at the first igenvalue of the associated linear problem. Essentially we use a generalization of LJUSTERNIK'S emma, MIERSENANN 1131. We apply our results to buckling problems for the thin elastic plate.
