Abstract
Homogeneous ion exchange between cations and complex anions is producing separation‐effects in an electric field. If this field is maintained across a stationary gradient of the complex forming anions focusing properties are obtained. It is shown by semiquantitative arguments that a solution of a number of cations M~i~^vi+^ is changing into a system of as many narrow zones of the pure species M~i~. The para‐ meters of the method are discussed and several research topics presently under work are mentioned.
