## Abstract In azo compounds with CH~3~O groups in __o__‐position to the azo groups the introduction of the weak auxochromes CH~3~– and CH~3~O– into the __p__‐position to the methoxy group (__m__‐position to the chromophor) causes relatively strong bathochromic effects, in conformity with the rule
