✦ Synopsis

Abstract

The synthesis of N‐benzyl‐3‐piperidone and its conversion to N‐benzyl‐3‐aryl‐3‐hydroxy‐piperidines is described. On catalytic debenzylation the derivatives with a free hydroxyl group show a normal behaviour whereas the O‐acylated derivatives loose the acyloxy group as a result of hydrogenolysis.
