✦ Synopsis

Chemiluminescence from electronitiy excited HS2 radi&s has be&n detected between 950 and 2100 nm in gas-pha;9 flow systems. The emission essentially consits of u:sequences of the I$ (Al 'A' -t x 'A") tra&iion wi& the 000 -000 lxmd origin at 1378 nm. DS2 was also studied For HSp the following spectrosmpic constan:s (in cm-') were deduced for the x2A" statz II'; = 904 f 8, U; = 595 f 4, and for the x 'A' state. To = 7255 f 7, u; = SO4 f 4, A' a A" = 9.7 f 0.5. These data and relative band intensities are III excellent agreement with an ab inilio SCF Cl calculation of SannigraZu, Peyerimhoff and Buenker. As in spectra of H02. forbidden AK = 0 txzsitiom were observed which arc not explained by axisswitching or Renner-Teller interaction mechanisms.

The rotationally resolved laser-induced fluorescence spectrum of the HCO B ˜2A-X ˜2A transition in the 0 0 0 band is observed under thermalized conditions. The formyl radical is produced from acetaldehyde photolyzed at wavelengths 310 or 308 nm. Some spin-splittings of the spectra are resolved. Abou
