By comparison of the energies of the observed bands in the low temperature absorption spectrum of tris(q5-cyc~opentadienyl)-praseodymium(III)-cycIohexylis~yanide with the calculated crystal field splitting pattern (which is based on a fit of 17 signals in the magnetic circular dichroism spectrum) the underlying electronic structure could be elucidated.
