Tunable laser I\*(zPI/2) quantum-yield measurements are presented for CH 2 I 2 in the wavelen,$h range 248-340 nm. The results suggest that a curve-crossing mechanism is operative in the dissociation\_

The rate of the reaction CH212 + H I 2 CH,I + I , has been followed spectrophotometrically from 201 .O to 31 1 .Z0. The rate constant for the reaction I + CH,I, CH,I + I, fits the equation, log (k,/M-'sec-') = 11.45 f 0.18 -(15.11 f 0.44)/0. This value, combined with the assumption that E2 = 0 & 1 k
Rotational transitions in the first four excited states of the low-frequency ΠICI bending mode, 4 , have been assigned in the mm-wave rotational spectra of CH 2 I 2 and of CD 2 I 2 . Measurements of transition frequencies, made over the frequency region 167-326 GHz and for JΠ up to 190, allowed dete
