✦ Synopsis
The title compound, aqua(hydrogen trioxoselenato)(trioxoselenato)yttrium(III) monohydrate, which is isostructural with its samarium(III) and neodymium(III) analogues, contains YO~8~, SeO~3~ and HSeO~3~ coordination polyhedra, which fuse together by corner- and edge-sharing, resulting in a layered structure. A network of O—H...O hydrogen bonds helps to consolidate the crystal packing.

## Abstract Single crystals of the title compound are grown hydrothermally from metallic vanadium in 0.5 M aq.
The first selenite chloride hydrates, Co(HSeO 3 )-Cl ´3 H 2 O and Cu(HSeO 3 )Cl ´2 H 2 O, have been prepared from solution and characterised by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The cobalt phase adopts an unusual ªone-dimensionalº structure built up from vertex-sharing pyramidal [HSeO 3 ] 2± , and o
