The title compound is obtained from reactions of \(\mathrm{CsI}, \mathrm{ZrI}_{4}, \mathrm{Zr}\), and \(\mathrm{C}\) in sealed \(\mathrm{Ta}\) at \(800^{\circ} \mathrm{C}\) (but not at \(850^{\circ} \mathrm{C}\) ). Both \(\mathrm{Zr}_{6} \mathrm{I}_{12} \mathrm{C}\) and \(\mathrm{Zr}_{6} \mathrm{I}_
