โœฆ Synopsis

The aggregation of methylene blue (MB) in water was studied by factor analysis (FA) of the visible spectra over a wide range of concentration from 1โ‹…000 ร‚ 10 77 to 1โ‹…600 ร‚ 10 72 M. Abstract factor analysis of data with multiple sources of error (AFA-MSE) revealed three MB species. The concentration profiles and spectra of the species were extracted by window factor analysis (WFA). The profiles were interpreted to be due to MB monomer, dimer and a trimer containing one chlorine atom. The dissociation constants of the dimer and trimer were determined to be 1โ‹…5 ร‚ 10 74 M and 3โ‹…2 ร‚ 10 711 M 3 respectively.

## Window evolving factor analysis (WEFA) is a powerful technique for checking peak purity in liquid chromatography with diode array detection (LC-DAD). However, practical application of the technique can be limited by instrumental and experimental non-idealities. One of the problem sources is het

Photolysis of an aqueous solution of methylene blue in the presence of TiO 2 is found to generate 0 2 with reduction of methylene blue to the lecuo form. The rate of 0 2 evolution and the rate of reduction of the dye is monitored and the kinetics are determined. The study shows that certain organic

A method for selecting variables in the non-sequential direction of a two-way data matrix (e.g. wavelength in diode array HPLC) is described. Composition 1 and 2 resolvability indices are calculated according to the size of eigenvalues of uncentred data matrices as a window is moved along the sequen
