✦ Synopsis

Abstract

This article presents a new design of wideband spurious suppression of dual‐mode band‐pass filter (BPF) using defected cascaded resonators (DCRs).The pattern of the DCRs is similar with that of the conventional low‐pass stepped impedance resonator, whereas it is etched in the ground. It is verified that adding DCRs in planar BPF can effectively provide a very wideband range for spurious suppression. The dual‐mode BPF is designed at center frequency (f~0~) of 5.2 GHz, and has a very wideband spurious suppression below 30 dB as far as over 5__f__~0~ when using the DCRs. The measured results have a good agreement with the EM simulated results. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
