The Unimin group has acquired Kingaroy Kaolin Pty Ltd, which mines the high-quality kaolin deposits near Kingaroy in southeastern Queensland. It produces delaminated coating clays for surface coating paper and cartonboard; filler-grade clays for plaster products, insecticides, adhesives, rubber, paint and paper; and other types of kaolin for sanitaryware, ceramics, refractories, plaster, cement and fibreglass. Based in Parramatta (New South Wales), Unimin itself produces kaolin for ceramics, refractories and fillers.
