โฆ Synopsis
Abstract
The monomer 2,5โdiaminobenzenesulfonic acid has been polymerized to a high molecular weight, conjugated main chain azo polymer. The presence of the azo group in the polymer was confirmed using Raman spectroscopy. The polymer is highly soluble in water over a wide pH range. It is also soluble in common polar organic solvents such as N,Nโdimethylformamide, dimethyl sulfoxide and Nโmethylโ2โpyrrolidone.

Homopolymers and copolymers of acrylamide (AA) and acrylic acid (AAc) were synthesized by the free radical solution polymerization technique. Feed ratios of the monomers were 85 : 15 (w/w), 65 : 35 (w/w), and 50 : 50 (w/w) of acrylamide and acrylic acid, respectively, for synthesis of copolymers. Al
