✦ Synopsis

The significance of fhe Anderson equation, which relates the gradienf of fhe fhermodynamic potential to vortex motion, is demonsfrated.

The interaction, between the superfluid and the normal fluid f7ow through a capillary, has been used as a cooling method. A compact cooling device (dimensions: height 15 cm, diameter 5 cm) operating continuously at temperatures near 0.7 K has been constructed and tested.
