Volatile components of Cistus ladanifer leaves from the north of Portugal were analysed by gas chromatographyยฑmass spectrometry (GCยฑMS), gas chromatographyยฑFID and preparative gas chromatography coupled to a sning system. Eighteen compounds were identiยฎed and among those, the norisoprenoid 2,6,6trimethylcyclohex-2-enone was isolated by preparative-GC and identiยฎed as an important Cistus ladanifer constituent by EI mass spectrometry and NMR spectroscopy.

The composition of the essential oil of Rhanterium epapposum O h . (Compositae) growing in northeastern Iran has been investigated by TLC, liquid-solid chromatography, capillary GLC, and GLC-MS. The oil contained 107 volatile components of which 92% were terpenoids. The main constituents were a-phel
