โœฆ Synopsis

Atomic and molecular states of bonding of osygen have been resolved on Ag(l10) by electron enemy loss vibrational spectroscopy.

The O-O bond order is reduced below unity, indicating appreciable charge transfer into the antibonding orbitals of 02 by analogy with 02 on Pt(ll1).

Dissociation of the molecular osygen into the atomic form was observed above 300 K.
