Polarized and depolarized light-scattering spectra of 4-cyano-4'-penthylbiphenyl (5CB) were measured for binary mixtures of 5CB and triphenyl phosphite (TPP). The coupling parameter R between translational and rotational degrees of freedom for 5CB was determined as a function of the temperature and
