โฆ Synopsis
Infrared emission (Au --2) has been observed from NO (u = 2-7) produced by the reaction N&3 f @ + NO(v) + 0.
The apparent NO vibrational energy distribution is different from the distribution initially produced by the reaction owing to stepwise V-V quenching of NO(u) by collision with 02. A time-to-steady-state flowing afterglow experiment has been used, atong with data obtained elsewhere, to defiie the u dependence of this quenching process. After correction for the 02 quenching effect, we oonch!de that 24.4% of the NO molecules produced in levels u = 2-7 are produced in v = 2 and k5.8%, 25-T!%, 22~5%~ 7.3% and 4.7% are produced in v = 3 through 7, respectively.

The nascent product vibrational energy distribution of the reaction O('D)+ H, has been determined by using the grating selection chemical laser technique. The main experimental results are: N, /Nc = 0.69, N,/N, = 0.92, Ns/N, = 0.80, N.,/Ns < 0.71. A computer modeling is carried out which shows that
