A dynamic model is described for vibration isolation systems consisting of a source machine, multiple vibration isolators and a supporting structure. The machine is modeled as a rigid body of six degrees of freedom. Each of the isolators is treated as an assembly of six simple translational and rota

β¦ Synopsis
The major sources of noise in a book trimming and stacking machine as installed in a printing works were located. The most annoying source was found to be shock noise due to the impulsive loading created by the guillotine. Various methods of vibration-isolating the machine were considered. The method adopted consisted of separating the guillotine section of the machine from the book supply and removal sections, and mounting this on vibration isolators. This method of isolation resulted in a reduction of noise levels in the rooms below the machine of some 5-10 dB throughout the frequency range of interest. In addition, it was possible to hear that the annoying thump due to the guillotine action occurring 2.5 times per second had been removed by the installation of the isolators. The cost of the adopted method was about ten times smaller than would have been incurred in building an isolated 'raft 'for the machine.

A power-flow graph model is introduced for the analysis of the mechanical isolation system. Based on this method, the relationships of the velocity and force at both ends of each component of the isolation system, including machine, isolator and foundation, are expressed by the two-way power-flow mo
This work exposes the complete procedure of suppressing the chatter of a machine centre without detailing each design step. The frequency of chatter of a machine centre was found by cutting a workpiece with increasing cutting depth. The weak component of the machine structure was then found by vibra
Many hydraulic components have non-linearities to some extent. These non-linearities often cause time delays, thus degrading the performance of hydraulic control systems and making it difficult to model them. This paper proposes a new vibration isolation control algorithm that eliminates the need fo
