The pyrimidine bases cytosine, uracil and thymine, along with some analogues, are electrophore-labeled either with pentafluorobenzoyl chloride (PFBC), pentafluorophenylsulfonyl chloride (PPSC), or heptafluorobutyric anhydride. Subsequent alkylation is most successful for PFB-cytosine, PPS-uracil, an
