The US Nutrition Labeling and Education Act specifies that total fat, saturated fat and the amount of cholesterol must be listed on food product labels. In addition, the amount of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fat may be included voluntarily. On 1 January 2006, new regulations went into effect
