Generally the by-products of the starch production are characterised b y removal of the prevalent portion of carbohydrates. T h e products which are got by preparing potatoes for starch can especially be utilised as fodder f o r cattles and horses. T h e By products of the starch production from corn and milocorn have a congenious composition similar to ,Maizena-fodder", but they are brought on the market under divergent nnmes. T h e y may be fed to all species according to their content of nutrients and digestibility and, if possible, in a mixed ration. In the same way starch by-products from rice and wheat, especially dried ones, are best suited feed for all species. Residues from the Tapioka and Manioka preparution that are o f good quality and poor in fibre, may also be given in mixed rations to pigs and ruminants.
In the interest o f saling by-products of the starch production and their addition to mixed rations, a clear definition o f them in the ,Futtermittelgesetz" should be given.
