A catalytic amount of copper(II) trifluoromethanesulfonate (Cu(OTf) 2 ) in the presence of trimethylchlorosilane (TMSCl) effectively promoted the aminomethylation of indoles bearing a variety of functional groups with a N-silyl-N,O-acetal in good to excellent yields.
