✦ Synopsis

Abstract

An ultra‐wide stopband microstrip lowpass filter(LPF) for harmonics suppression is introduced in this letter. The LPF is composed of three open stubs, a pair of spur‐lines, and a pair of parallel coupled‐lines with symmetrical structure. Measured results verify that the filter has a return loss better than −20 dB within 4.8–25 GHz, which is about eight times the filter cutoff frequency. The ultra‐wide stopband performance for higher harmonics suppression has great potential applications in wideband microstrip circuit and systems. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract On the basis of the characteristics of defected ground structures (DGSs), a low‐pass filter (LPF) with a sharp rejection and an ultra‐wide stopband is constructed. The proposed LPF comprises of a dual reverse U‐shaped DGS along with two H‐shaped patterns on the ground plane and a micros
