✦ Synopsis

An experiment on two-step photoionization of HzCO mokcules by simultaneous action of a radiation pulse of a Nz-laser (h = 3371 A) which excttes the 'AZ state and of a Hz-Iasir (h = 1600 A) which photoionizes the excited molecules is reported. The decay of the ' A2 state of formaldehyde at a pressure of 0.9 torr has been studied. The scheme of highly sensitivc laser detection of mokcuks by the use of seIective two-step molecular photoionization is under consideration.

Mutual diffusion coefficients of hydrogen gas (H 2 ) into air and its component gases (N 2 and O 2 ) have been measured in the temperature range of 30 to 180 °C and at atmospheric pressure via the Taylor dispersion method. For a H 2 N 2 system, the composition dependence of the mutual diffusion coef

Probabilities for the (VT) and (VR) deactivation of CO have been calculated from relaxation times measured down to 77 K using laser fluorescence. Only in the case of deactivation by p-H2 is the (VR) process important; its rate exceeds that for (VT) deactivation between 320 K and 110 K.
