โฆ Synopsis
Polarized tw+photon fluorescence excitation spectra of naphthalene, 1-fluoro-, 2-fluom, 1,2,3,4-tetrafluoro-, l-chloro, 2-chlomnaphthalene, isoquinoline and its cation in 0.1 or 0.2 M solutions are reported for the range 450-650 nm. With the aid of a new normalizing technique based on frequency doubling by KDP powder, the spectra unequivocally confirm the predictions from altemant hydrocarbon pseudoparity regarding the effect of fluom and aza substitution on the Lb and L, bands.

Two-photon excitation spectra of a methylcyclohexane solution of triptycene using linearly and circularly polarized light are recorded. It is concluded from the polarisation dependence of the spectra that there exist two electronicstates of different symmetry -2500 cm-l apart.
