✦ Synopsis
In this paper the principle and theoretical basis of the step-heating technique for thermal diffusivity measurement is summarized. Application of two numerical fitting methods for data reduction-least-squares and Levenberg-Marquardt methods--is described. Results of thermal diffnsivity estimation from both simulated and experimental data are presented and discussed.

A new data reduction technique for measuring the convective heat transfer coefficient is reported. The technique is based on the evaluation of the Fourier transform of simultaneously measured freestream temperature and surface wall temperature or heating power. Any wave shape can be used to heat-up
Triplet-triplet absorption is sensitively detected by the time-resolved two-step excitation thermal grating method. This method provides zero-background detection of the transient absorption. As an example of the application, measurement of the quantum yield of energy transfer from the higher excite
Enthalpies of dissolution, AHs, of malonic and malic acids in water have been determined at molalities ranging from 4 x 10 .3 to about 29 × 10 -3 for malonic acid and from 2 × 10 -3 to about 180 × 10 .3 for malic acid at 298.15K. These data are analysed taking into account an incomplete dissociation
## Abstract ## BACKGROUND Epidemiological investigations have begun to consider gene‐environment (GE) interactions as potential risk factors for many diseases, including several different birth defects. However, traditional methodological approaches for the analysis of case‐control data tend to ha
