✦ Synopsis

Triplet-triplet absorption is sensitively detected by the time-resolved two-step excitation thermal grating method. This method provides zero-background detection of the transient absorption. As an example of the application, measurement of the quantum yield of energy transfer from the higher excited triplet state is reported. The improvement of this method from other methods such as the time-resolved transient thermal lens method is discussed.
