✦ Synopsis

We report tunneling I-V characteristics at 4.2 K and 56 K of the high-T c superconductor Bi4Ca3Sr3Cu4016+~, using a Scanning Tunneling Microscope (Sll~). These results are analysed using different methods for the energy-gap determination. The most consistent interpretation of our measurements, both at 4.2 K and 56 K, is obtained introducing quasiparticle lifetime effects into the BCS density of states. This analysis gives a ratio 2A/KBT c = 5.5-6.

We report on N-I-S point contact and S-I-S break junction tunneling measurements at T=4.2 K on Bi2Sr2CaCu2Os+6 single crystals (Tc = 78-86 K). For the latter experiments, the breaking of the crystal was done in liquid He atmosphere in order to produce clean surfaces. The superconducting energy gap s
