Abstract
A novel structural motif in oxalate bridged copper(II) complexes has been prepared namely a metallamacrocyclic compound of the dinucleating ligand 1,3‐bis[bis(2‐pyridylmethyl)amino]benzene (= 1,3‐tpbd). It could be demonstrated that the magnetic properties of copper(II) complexes of the 1,3‐tpbd ligand can be adjusted from weakly ferromagnetic (J = +9.3 cm^−1^) to strongly antiferromagnetic [J = −366(9) cm^−1^] by variation of the additional ligands (e.g. perchlorate, azide, oxalate etc.).
