Abstract
In this article, we show that a dielectric filled slot into which a capacitively loaded printed dipole antenna is inserted is capable of producing squeezing of the near electric field when excited by a cross polarized signal. Further, it is demonstrated that this effect can be used to produce a simple sensor which is capable of producing tunable subwavelength imaging of scattering objects. Results are presented which show that with commercial surface mount components subresolution of better than 0.25Ξ» is possible across a 500 MHz bandwidth from 2.53 to 3.08 GHz with varactor tuning.
