✦ Synopsis

Abstract

This study describes a wavelength‐tunable fiber laser based on a broadband fiber mirror and an etched fiber Bragg grating (FBG) with a tuning range exceeding 15 nm. The experimental results indicate that this configuration provides a simple and economical method of implementing a wavelength‐tunable fiber laser for applications in fiber optics or fiber‐communication systems. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This paper reports on a Q-switched Er-doped fiber laser using the stress dependence of a wavelength of reflected light from fiber Bragg gratings. The laser cavity consists of a 0.5-m-long Er-doped fiber and two fiber gratings (FG) attached at both ends of the fiber. The pump laser is a 1.48 mm semic

## Abstract We present a new bend sensor which can measure the curvature using an etched fiber Bragg grating (FBG) embedded into a beam. The reflection power of the grating detected by an optical power meter varies linearly with the curvature of the beam. This sensor is independent of temperature.

## Abstract A novel interrogation of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) in a strain sensor, which is based on Er‐doped fiber laser's transient regime, is reported. The applied strain on FBG changes the laser cavity loss, which in turn modifies the laser's transient regime. The strain value can be obtained b

We have realized and studied the fiber laser based on 4-core Yb-doped fiber and multimode Bragg grating as the input reflector. The lasing efficiency slope of 55% was measured. An investigation of the output emission has shown that the far-field pattern constitutes an interference picture. That allo

In this paper, a multiwavelength erbium-doped fiber laser based on a microstructure fiber Bragg grating (FBG) is proposed and demonstrated. The fiber Bragg grating is fabricated in a large-air-hole microstructure optical fiber using the phase-mask method. The laser based on this novel grating can be
