This paper reports on a Q-switched Er-doped fiber laser using the stress dependence of a wavelength of reflected light from fiber Bragg gratings. The laser cavity consists of a 0.5-m-long Er-doped fiber and two fiber gratings (FG) attached at both ends of the fiber. The pump laser is a 1.48 mm semic

✦ Synopsis
Abstract
This study describes a wavelength‐tunable fiber laser based on a broadband fiber mirror and an etched fiber Bragg grating (FBG) with a tuning range exceeding 15 nm. The experimental results indicate that this configuration provides a simple and economical method of implementing a wavelength‐tunable fiber laser for applications in fiber optics or fiber‐communication systems. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We have realized and studied the fiber laser based on 4-core Yb-doped fiber and multimode Bragg grating as the input reflector. The lasing efficiency slope of 55% was measured. An investigation of the output emission has shown that the far-field pattern constitutes an interference picture. That allo
In this paper, a multiwavelength erbium-doped fiber laser based on a microstructure fiber Bragg grating (FBG) is proposed and demonstrated. The fiber Bragg grating is fabricated in a large-air-hole microstructure optical fiber using the phase-mask method. The laser based on this novel grating can be
