✦ Synopsis

Abstract

Three‐dimensional NMR imaging was used to create true maps of the ^14^N distribution in aqueous phantoms containing ammonium nitrate and sodium azide. The technique allowed for the creation of separate images from each nitrogen chemical environment and a total nitrogen image devoid of any appreciable artefacts.

## Abstract The reconstruction of two‐dimensional spatial images with 0.5‐mm resolution using radio frequency gradients generated by an NMR coil system rotated about the sample is demonstrated for ^23^Na. The method retains chemical shift, should be capable of mapping __T__~1~ and __T__~2~ informat

A series of homogeneous calcium alginate gels, prepared in the presence of anti-gelling ions, were used to produce a calibration curve relating the spin-spin relaxation time (T.J of the water protons in the gel to the concentration of alginate. This was then used to calculate the spatial variation o
