✦ Synopsis
The mononuclear title complex, [Mn(C 7 H 4 O 5 S)(C 10 H 8 N 2 )-(H 2 O) 3 ]ÁH 2 O, was obtained from the hydrothermal reaction of manganese acetate, potassium hydrogen 4-sulfonatobenzoate and 2,2 0 -bipyridine. The geometry of the seven-coordinate Mn II atom is a monocapped trigonal prismatic. Each 4sulfonatobenzoate anion chelates to the metal atom via its carboxyl O atoms. The crystal structure is stabilized by a threedimensional O-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen-bond network.
