β¦ Synopsis
Measurements of the trapped flux (rcmanent magnetism) in polycrystalline YBasCusO, in the range 15-50 K show that at low applied field pulses, flux is trapped in the intergrain voids. A detailed measurement of a map of the remanent field over the whole surface of the sample shows that at very low fields flux is trapped in an asymmetrical and disordered way whereas when the maximum flux is trapped in the intergrain voids the trapped-flus distribution is symmetrical.

In this paper the critical density for a polycrystalline sample is calculated assuming a model of weakly coupled superconducting grains and the influence of grain size on the maximum tunnelling current is investigated. In addition the Josephson vortices are shown to be bound by the pinning force inh
