How much information does a small number of moments carry about the unknown distribution function? Is it possible to explicitly obtain from these moments some useful information, e.g., about the support, the modality, the general shape, or the tails of a distribution, without going into a detailed n
A generalized method for formulating unit-jump Markov chain model is presented. This method uses geometric series to determine the transition probabilities instead of using a moment generation function. Recursive equation for the transition probabilities has been derived in terms of the mean values.
We obtain Rosenthal-type inequalities and an estimate for large-deviation probabilities in the case of bounded additive functionals of a Markov chain under regularity assumptions via the Nummelin splitting technique.
