Maize Type II callus tissue was used as the plant material for genetic transformation via electroporation. Plasmid DNA containing a selectable marker gene (either neomycin phosphotransferase (npt-II) or phosphinothricin acetyl transferase (bar)), and a screenable marker gene (gus A) was incubated wi
