Total-eclipse of the Sun, 28th July 1851. (Fig. 1)') H a v i n g determined upon observing the eclipse from some point within the line of totality, I on the 28th went over toSweden and fixed upon the village of Kropp about 5 engliah miles E. of Helsingborg a s a suitable positinit, it being an elevated spot, and accordingly arranged my apparatus in the church -yard a t that place, from which the surrounding country, which was flat, was visible to a considerable distance.
