✦ Synopsis

Recent years have shown increased development

of methodological approaches to information system design. One approach to office automation is to attempt to define the information processed in the office and how it moves. This is a complex task and should ideally be supported by PC applications, This paper describes a set of forms and coded descriptions for collecting the data about the office under study. These forms are intended to assist the task of transferring the information to a PC data base (dBASEI1). The use of the forms is illustrated by an example from garments industry. The methodology is directed at small to medium-sized industries in which office automation must be integrated with traditional information systems.
